TxSEdb is a database manually annotating experimentally validated proteins secreted through various secretion systems of gram negative bacteria (ref 1).
Gram-negative bacteria employ more than a dozen types of systems to secrete different substrate proteins (ref 2). Although there are databases curating different secreted proteins, a manually well-annotated database remains at a lack that is systematically organized according to secretion system types and curates validated substrate proteins. Besides the original information on the secreted proteins of type 1 ~ 10 secretion systems updated in a regular period, TxSEdb also provides the homology-filtered datasets for training and testing models for prediction of new proteins secreted via corresponding systems.
Till present, 1,708 validated secreted proteins have been annotated from 10 secretion systems. The proteins are distributed in different bacterial species.
